National Accessibility Week – Recognizing McMaster’s Progress Towards Disability Inclusion and Accessibility!
This week, 26 May to June 1, 2024 is National Accessibility Week, a celebration of the valuable contributions of Canadians with disabilities, as well as a recognition of the efforts of individuals, communities and workplaces actively working to remove barriers to accessibility and inclusion.
The McMaster community has been actively working to put in to practice this year’s theme of “Forward Together: Accessibility and Inclusion for All”. The Equity and Inclusion Office, with support from the McMaster Accessibility Advisory Council and the Macpherson Institute, has compiled 56 submissions to create Chapter 3 of the Accessibility and Disability Inclusion Update 2022-2023. The commitment to accessibility and disability inclusion is evident throughout the initiatives highlighted in this year’s update, from innovations within research, teaching and learning to advancements in digital accessibility to stronger community building and engagement. These initiatives are a result of the dedication, leadership, and tremendous efforts of McMaster’s staff, students, and faculty. We encourage you to take a moment to celebrate these achievements while considering the next steps for further progress towards a fully inclusive and accessible McMaster University.
